Marianne

Standing by the water's edge, the man begins to weep.
Thinking of the future now, a promise he can't keep.
Cold and very lonely, he walks into the gloom;
Thinking of what might have been, and what might well be soon.

Oh Marianne, I made you cry
Oh Marianne, you hurt.
Oh Marianne I made you cry
And love comes down like tears

He asks himself the quesion now 'Why must he go away?'
Not certain of the reasoning 'hind games that people play.
A mass of contradictions - the only thing he needs
Is what he has to leave behind now - upon his soul it feeds.

Oh Marianne, I made you cry
Oh Marianne, you hurt.
Oh Marianne I made you cry
And love comes down like tears
